Magic Kingdom Restaurant Review: Tony's Town Square

Since Miss H is my picky eater I let her choose which restaurant she wanted to eat at on our recent visit to Magic Kingdom. She always loves Italian food, so her natural pick was Tony’s Town Square. When we arrived, we were greeted in a very plush, velvet covered waiting area where there was ample seating and a large television running Lady and the Tramp on a loop.

We waited for an hour and a half past our reservation time (we watched the entirety of Lady & the Tramp while we waited...), the restaurant smelled odd, the floors were sticky, the wait staff was rude and our entrees were marginal at best.

For dinner Miss H and I split the Caprese Salad which looked beautiful, but the tomatoes were soggy and it was doused in balsamic vinegar. For our main entree, I had the gnocchi (also doused in balsamic vinegar) and Miss H had the spaghetti and meatballs, which she enjoyed.

The only upside was dessert. Miss H and I split a lovely Tiramisu.

I truly don’t like giving negative reviews but felt it was important to give you guys our real experience. I think two things were a significant factor in our experience:

First, the wait time. If the food and atmosphere had been amazing, it probably wouldn’t have been that bad. But we ended up losing valuable park time waiting for mediocre food... conversely, if we had been on time but the food was still mediocre, we would have chalked it up to experience and moved on.

The second issue is that the meal did not line up with what I consider to be the Disney Dining Experience. I love the restaurants at Disney and look forward to enjoying the unique atmosphere, food and fantastic service each restaurant has to offer.

Overall, this is not a restaurant that I would choose to repeat on our next visit to Magic Kingdom unless it was for further research to give you guys new information!
